Cutthroats 8 - Zombies 10
On 8/10, the Cutthroats lost to the Zombies 8-10. Too bad they didn't play on the 7th. The Zombies have had a disappointing season, but they brought their A-game to take on the Cutthroats.
Joe Cordo had one of the most memorable highlights of the season with a 410 foot bomb to left-center in the 1st inning. Due to weird circumstances, the fences were not at the normal 300-400 foot range, but were moved back to 420-500 feet. This resulted in an easy triple for Cordo instead of a no-doubt home run.
The Zombies scored four runs in the 1st-creating a huge hole for the Cutthroats to crawl out of. Cordo and Sorauf had 7 hits between the two of them, but it wasn't enough to bring the 'Throats back.
With tying runners on base in the 9th inning, the Cutthroats still had a chance. But a quick pick-off move to 2nd got the Zombies their second out, followed quickly by a strikeout to end the game.
The Zombies improved to (4-11), and the Cutthroats dropped to (9-6).
