Game 2-08

The Colorado Cutthroats improved to 3-1 in their last 4 games after a decisive 13-6 victory over Loc Nar on Sunday.

In perhaps the best individual effort in Cutthroats history, Mark Link went 4-6 at the plate with a pair of doubles and 2 RBIs and threw a 9-inning complete game, allowing only 10 baserunners and fanning 7. It was Link's second consecutive complete game win of the season, the last coming against the Spartans on May 5.

The Cutthroats offense avenged an embarrassing Opening Day loss at the hands of Loc Nar by wearing down the Loc Nar pitching staff over the course of the game. The Cutthroats drew 11 walks by 6 different players, 5 players had at least 2 hits, and 7 different players scored runs. Wes Sconce scored 4 times out of the lead-off spot and continued his torrid pace at the plate. Sconce is batting .600 with 9 runs scored in the Cutthroats' last three games. Ken Reichelt is not far behind, batting .545 with 5 RBIs and 5 steals in the same stretch. Jon Bielecki knocked in three more runs on Sunday, giving him 18 RBI for the season and 10 in his last 3 games.

After committing 10 errors in the first meeting, the Cutthroats defense played solidly behind Link highlighted by web gems by Reichelt at shortstop and Jimmy Waidler at second base.

The Cutthroats are now only 1 game behind 4th place Loc Nar in the standings.
