In an absolutely thrilling game, the Colorado Cutthroats battled back from an 11-0 defecit to tie Loc Nar, only to allow a run in the bottom of the 6th and final inning to drop their third 1-run decision in their last 4 games played. With a final score of 21-20, neither team had any problem scoring runs.
Loc Nar was up 12-0 after two innings, but the Cutthroats roared back, scoring 3 in the 3rd and 7 in the 4th, to cut the lead to 12-10. Ken Reichelt got the Cutthroats on the board in the 3rd with a 2-run triple, and was promptly driven home by Mike Ladefoged on the next play. The 4th inning was highlighted by a 2-run triple by Dr. Kellen Sorauf and an RBI double by Tim Hairr. Unfortunately, the 'Thoats were not able to keep the Loc Nar (Loc Nars? Locs Nar? Whatever...) off the board in the bottom of the inning, allowing 8 runs in the home half.
Ladefoged kept the Cutthroats within striking distance in the 5th with a 2-run homer to left field, his first of the season. Reichelt pitched a scoreless 5th inning, and the score was 20-12 going into the top of the 6th.
After 2 leadoff walks and a hit batter, Reichelt drove one in with a single, which Ladefoged followed up with an RBI walk, notching his 4th RBI of the day. After two consecutive outs, Jonathan Hall was hit by a pitch, Josh Ortega singled, and Mike Picchetti worked a walk, all of which drove in runs and brought the Cutthroats to within 3 with the bases loaded and two outs. In only his third game, newcomer Derek Jones provided perhaps the biggest hit of the Cutthroats season with a triple that both cleared the bases and tied the game. However the Cutthroats were not able to get him in from third and the Locs Nars scored in the bottom of the inning on an error and two singles to win the game in walk-off fashion.
Every player in the Cutthroats lineup scored at least one run, and four players scored more than twice. Every player got on base at least two times, 8 players had hits and 8 drew walks, while the team struck out only 8 times total and walked 12 times.
The hot-hitting Cutthroats' next game is Sunday, June 24th at 12:30 versus The Harvesters at Green Mountain High School.
