Not much went wrong for the Colorado Cutthroats in their inaugural game, as they pounded the Harvesters 16-1 on Opening Day at Heritage High School.
The 'Throats were up 11-0 after just two innings, thanks to a 1st inning grand slam by John LeDrew, who tacked on another 2 RBIs an inning later and quickly made last season's struggles at the plate a distant memory. Ken Reichelt was 4-for-5 with a pair of homers, and Mark Link added a towering 3-run blast giving the Cutthroats four homers on the day.
On the mound, Link pitched 4 innings of no-hit baseball, striking out 10 and allowing only 1 run. The 'Throats pitching staff allowed only 2 hits and fanned 16 Harvesters in only 7 innings.
Defensively the Cutthroats were flawless, committing no errors and turning a slick 4-6-3 double play to end the 6th inning. Eight different players scored runs and ten had hits, contributing to the impressive team win.
The Cutthroats next game is April 16th against the Yetis.
