Zeolites and Hierarchical Micro-Meso-Porous Materials: Synthesis, Properties, and Potential Applications

 4th Colloquium — Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico, 2026

The Center for Nanosciences and Nanotechnology of UNAM is proud to continue, for the fourth consecutive year, the tradition begun in October 2022 with the “Symposium in Honor of 50 Years of Zeolite Research in Mexico.” Since then, the Colloquium on Zeolites and Hierarchical Micro-Meso-Porous Materials has become established as an annual reference forum in Mexico and the region for scientific exchange on the synthesis, properties, and applications of zeolites and hierarchical porous materials.

In its previous editions (2023, 2024, and 2025), the colloquium has brought together researchers and students from Mexican institutions — Ensenada, Tijuana, Mexicali, Guasave, Durango, Morelia, Mexico City, Guadalajara, Zapopan, and Puebla, among others — as well as colleagues from Russia and Cuba, reflecting the increasingly international character of the event. In 2025, the colloquium expanded its focus to quantum confinement in zeolites and related materials (VCZ-HMM 2025), resulting in the publication of the Springer Nature book Quantum Confinement in Zeolites and Beyond: From Atomistic Design to Functional Nanomaterials. Likewise, the contributions from the 2nd Colloquium (2024) were collected in the volume Advancements in Zeolites and Micro-Meso Porous Hierarchical Materials (IGI Global Scientific Publishing, 2025).

This year, the colloquium reaffirms its commitment to the dissemination of knowledge in a constantly expanding field of research, whose applications span catalysis, photocatalysis, nanobiotechnology, nanoengineering, sensor development, sustainable agriculture, and other emerging areas of materials science. The event is aimed at researchers and undergraduate and graduate students, providing a space for the exchange of ideas, the discussion of recent results, and the strengthening of national and international collaborations around zeolites and hierarchical porous materials.
