Below are some of the committees and a brief description. We are always looking to add members to these committees!
This committee reviews all financial records for the year. The audit will be sent for approval at the following school year's general PTA meeting.
The Schaumburg Township Council holds a themed auction for all D54 schools each year. The auction committee is responsible for creating baskets for the silent auction portion, obtaining gift cards, and other items requested by the STC auction committee. The STC auction provides scholarships for D54 students.
The Back to School Picnic is held before the first day of school. Students generally drop off school supplies and have an opportunity to meet their teachers. This committee schedules food trucks and collaborates with the membership and spiritwear teams to arrange tables for selling of items.
Every student at Collins receives a book for their birthday. The Birthday Book Club chair purchases books that will be made available to the students. Routine monitoring of the book vending machine is recommended to ensure that the students have a variety of books to choose from.
Collins holds two bookfairs throughout the school year. The bookfair committee is responsible for securing dates and the vendor as well as organizing volunteers.
Box Tops is a program that earns money for our school through families purchasing participating products. This is achieveable by scanning receipts into the BoxTops app! More information on the app and the products are available on the More Info page.
Dine to Donate days are scheduled with local restaurants to fundraise for our school. Each restaurant gives a percentage of their sales to Collins. The Dine to Donate team will reach out to restaurants and select available dates.
These nights include, but are not limited to, Bingo for Books, Trunk or Treat, ***. Additional Family Fun Nights can be added throughout the year after approval from the PTA and administration. Each of these events has a lead person but will communicate all event details with the chairperson for this committee.

Grade level events may include an activity or event for one specific grade or multiple grades combined. The events scheduled for 2024-2025 are: (Kindergarten and 1st) Doughnuts with Grownups, (2nd and 4th) Music Concerts, (3rd and 5th) Mathnasium Night.
The committee members for grade level events will coordinate with vendors for food (when applicable) and other businesses or vendors that will be teaming with Collins for the designated event.
*The 6th grade event is the 6th Grade Celebration
The Holiday Shop is available for all students to visit with their class to shop for gifts for the winter holidays. The coordinator will communicate with the vendor and select dates and items to sell over a two day period. They are also responsible for securing volunteers for the set up, classroom shifts, and tear down.
The hospitality committee is our way of showing the staff and faculty our thanks for the work they put into making our school so welcoming. There are several days that the hospitality committee provides catering for the faculty including the welcome back to school inservice, conferences, holiday gifts, and teacher appreciation week.
Collins, like all D54 grade schools, coordinates hot lunch two days each week. The meals are pre-ordered by the students' families. The Hot Lunch team works with current and potential vendors for the meals, including selection of items that will be offered. Volunteers are secured by a sign up, however at least one designated Hot Lunch Lead person should be available for specified hot lunch days.
Tuesdays are pizza days, provided by Rosario's and Friday are a rotating option from local restaurants.
The membership committee is responsible for finding new and creative ways to promote our PTA membership and provide incentives.
The date of school pictures is selected by the district, therefore the main responsiblity of the Picture Day chairperson is to obtain volunteers for the main day, retake day, and at least one additional day for students who enrolled in Collins later in the year.
The school supply kit chairperson is responsible for communicating with the administration and teachers regarding the upcoming year's supply requests. The chairperson then relays the information to the vendor and monitors the online sales. They are also responsible for distribution prior to the first day of school.
The Spiritwear committee works with our vendor on orders, designs, and distribution. Our current spiritwear vendor primarily uses online sales, the spiritwear committee helps with distribution of the purchased items as well as selling our current inventory.
The yearbook committee is responsible for working with a publisher, creating layouts, selecting photos for the yearbook, and distribution. There are many opportunities for volunteers to take photos for the yearbook at Collins events!
This event is soley for the 6th grade students and their parents, held at the end of the school year. This committee organizes the theme, t-shirts, catering, decorations, etc for the event. This is a large team event comprised of mainly 6th grade parents, however 5th grade parents are also welcome to help to prepare for the following year as well.
