Post-doc opportunities @ INCC

Three postdoc positions are available at the Integrative Neuroscience and Cognition Center in Paris (CNRS and Université Paris Cité). The positions involve mainly human psychophysics, with possible forays into human and animal physiology and modeling. All three positions are available immediately, and will remain open until filled. The three projects concern the following questions:

- To what extent do static images mask fast saccade-like motion and blur? What is the relationship between masking and saccadic suppression, and can saccadic suppression be explained by static pre- and post-saccadic scenes? This project will be under the supervision of Mark Wexler, in collaboration with teams studying the same stimuli using optical imaging in primates and electrophysiology in mice, and another team working on neural models of these processes (2-year postdoc).

- How do we integrate sensory information over brief time windows? Are temporal integration windows aligned in time to eye movements and blinks, and can they move through space? Does retroperception arise from integration over temporal windows? How can we explain the very different estimates of the duration of integration windows? This project will be under the supervision of Claire Sergent and Mark Wexler, in collaboration with Pascal Mamassian (2-year postdoc).

- How does the perception of the current stimulus depend on past stimuli? Is serial dependence a perceptual or a cognitive phenomenon? What can explain individual differences in serial dependence, and how can these differences help us to answer fundamental questions about it? Is serial dependence helpful or harmful to practical tasks involving repetitive perceptual judgments? This project will be under the supervision of Thérèse Collins and Mark Wexler (18-month postdoc).

The INCC, a CNRS research institute located in the center of Paris, is a large and diverse group of neuroscientists and psychologists, an active part of a vibrant intellectual community in Paris and the surrounding region.
