About the Scholarship

The College Kick-Start Scholarship, totaling $1000, was created to help a student in South Jersey as they prepare to tackle the financial burden of pursuing higher education.

This scholarship will be open to students applying to college, trade school, a certification, academy, or other programs to continue their education.

This scholarship will be open to high school seniors in the following South Jersey counties: Cape May, Atlantic, Cumberland, Salem, Camden, Burlington, and Gloucester.

We believe every student should be able to pursue their career ambitions!

About the Founders

Meet Amy and Maddie, the two founders of the College Kick-Start Scholarship! Amy and Maddie first met while competing in the Miss America Organization in 2019. These two hold a shared understanding of the importance of supporting students in their pursuit of higher education. Their goal is to continue to increase the amount of scholarship money they award each year with the assistance of community support and donations.

Amy is a graduate from Towson University with a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication, concentration in Journalism + New Media, and minor in Electronic Media + Film. Without the scholarships Amy obtained from her academics and competing in the Miss America Organization, attending a four-year university would not have been possible. She applied to 36 community scholarships, enrolled in 20+ credits per semester, and graduated a year early to cut down on costs.

Maddie received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Stevenson University and her Master of Education in Educational Policy, Planning, and Leadership in Higher Education from William & Mary. She understands the struggle of finding affordable housing, food, books, and paying for tution as she works with college students and sees the impact of the cost of higher education every day. The scholarships she has received from the Miss America Organization have helped alleviate some of the financial stresses associated with pursuing higher education.
