We explore the interplay of new technologies and collective learning through yearly workshops, quarterly seminars and a summer school.
We plan to have seminars every three months where Network members and potential members can present their work and discuss its relevance to the Network's topics. The next virtual seminar will be held February 13th.
We will organize two in-person and two virtual workshops. Each workshop will have exploratory, discussion, and planning activities. The first workshop will be in-person June 30 - July 2 at the Complexity Hubin Vienna. There, we will explore the needs and capacities of network members, discuss and refine the project themes, and make plans for the virtual seminar series and the summer school.
This two-week program will bring together diverse faculty and students to address key challenges in understanding collective learning, with a strong focus on inclusivity. Students from underrepresented regions such as former Eastern Europe and the Global South will be prioritized, alongside those from the U.S. and Western Europe.
Program Highlights:
Week 1: Lectures, seminars, and workshops led by interdisciplinary experts, covering themes like:
Frameworks for understanding the interplay between new technologies and collective learning.
Innovative technologies for studying collective learning.
Platforms for online social interactions that enhance collective learning.
Guest speakers will offer real-world perspectives on digitally networked collectives.
Week 2: Hands-on group projects applying concepts from Week 1. Projects may include:
Designing technological platforms.
Conducting studies with new technologies.
Developing frameworks or models of collective learning.
The school will conclude with a mini-conference where students present their projects to peers and experts, receiving constructive feedback.
