About the Imbabura Community Recovery Fund.
In times of crisis, we discover what truly binds us together as human beings. Right now, Indigenous Kichwa families in Imbabura, Ecuador, face urgent medical needs following injuries sustained during the September-October 2025 national strike. This is more than a fundraising appeal; it is an invitation to participate in ayllu (the creation of all life) and minka (collective work), traditional Kara-Kichwa practices of mutual support that have sustained communities and ecosystems for generations.

Families urgently require support for emergency surgeries, intensive care, rehabilitation, and bereavement services. Among them:
Jose Alberto Guaman, a 30-year-old father of two, passed away on October 15, leaving his family without income
Jose Rafael Lanchimba, 47, who lost his right eye and requires specialized treatment
Braulio Estiven Morales Farinango, just 18 years old, is in a critical coma, and he had an amputation of one of his legs (now facing a harder life)
Others are facing life-altering injuries requiring immediate intervention
