Saisha is a freshman at Dougherty Valley High School, CA. She has been part of and led multiple events in the past raising over $10,000 for various charity organizations- Save The Children, Shelter House, Project Caleus, NOVA Labs, Mobile Hope, DC Candelighters (Children's cancer research institute) and others. After having to let go her dream of attending the prestigious Thomas Jefferson High school, VA due to family driven move to CA, she faced a lot of challenges in acclimatizing in the new place. She decided to lead this information session to educate herself and the community. The move also made her realize the importance of youth mental health and she wants to equip herself and others on this front.
Vaibhav Somesula is a freshman at Centerville High School, VA. This is his fifth year in speaktolead- Youth leadership program. Vaibhav participates in his schools Model UN team and has won various awards. In his free time, Vaibhav likes to play basketball and write. Vaibhav wanted to organize this event because he wanted to make a positive impact on the community, like he has done in the other projects, while also learning more about college applications and the process.
Dev Rai is a freshman at Oakton High School, VA. He got introduced to speaketolead Youth Leadership Program in 2022. He has been part of the program for two years and led the team in various leadership projects. He was the Youth Coordinator for the 2022 STEAM Career Fair, and part of the core team in the 2023 speaktolead Bake Sale. Dev enjoys public speaking and is part of his school’s debate team, Science Olympiad team, and Math Olympiad team. He also enjoys helping other people.
Anvita is a freshman (9th trader) at Chantilly High School, Virginia. She has been doing speech since her 4th grade and joined the Speak to Lead Youth Leadership Program in 2023. She was privileged to lead the “ AnnaSudha fundraiser “ program in June 2023. She participated in a culinary challenge for Middle school in 2022, and her team’s creation, “ Vegejita Wrapadilla,” has been added to the Fairfax County Public Schools Menu. Photography is one of her other passions. She enjoys and is taking classes in Indian classical singing and Dancing. She has been interested and working so much on the college admission process and wants to participate in this program.
