This course should be available for you to access on the Friday before the start of the semester.
REQUIRED: To demonstrate that you are actively participating in the class, you are required to post to the discussion forum on the first Monday of class, no later than 11:55pm. If you do not post to the discussion forum by this time, you may be dropped from the course for non-participation. The link to the discussion forum (Discussion #1) will be available so that you can begin working on it on Monday, by 8:00am.

This is a 3-week course organized into one-week modules that open each Monday morning.
It is your responsibility to come to class, check your Cerro Coso email, and regularly monitor the course Canvas site to be notified of changes to the course.
This is an online course, attendance is measured by how well you are keeping up with the class. You must complete two recent assignments every two weeks to avoid being dropped.
This course provides preparation for online course work by focusing on the fundamentals of the online educational environment. Topics include email use, online class interactions such as discussion groups, the differences between online and onsite courses, equipment needs, and other introductory information. Course Co-requisites: NONE

I will generally be available daily via email, in addition to what is outlined regarding online and office hours.
I will attempt to respond to emails as quickly as possible.
I will reply to course content related emails within 48 hours.
I will keep your overall grade up to date on the Canvas website, by the end of the week after due dates.

August 19 First day of class.
August 19 Last day to drop and receive a refund.
August 21 Last day to drop without a ‘W’. (If you drop on or before this date you will not receive a mark on your permanent record/transcripts).
August 28 Final Drop Date (If you drop on or before this date you will receive a ‘W’ (Withdraw) on your permanent record/transcripts).
Attendance Participation and Attendance Policies: “Regular active participation is expected of all students enrolled in the college. Students not actively participating in a course may be dropped from the course” (Cerro Coso Catalog 2022-2023, p. 23). Regular active participation is required in COLL C052. Participation will be measured through the discussion forums, completion of quizzes, and turning in assignments on a weekly basis. Simply logging in from time to time is not regular active participation. In COLL C052 if you do not actively participate in the equivalent of five (5) days of class (does not have to be consecutive) you will be dropped from the course, up to the final drop date. After the final drop date you can no longer be dropped from the course. You are responsible for officially withdrawing from any course or courses in which you no longer wish to be enrolled.

Demonstrate the ability to use web pages, email, group discussions, upload a written assignment, and navigate Cerro Coso's online course environment.
