In this project I will be talking about how social media impacts myself and the rest of the world. With explaining how it affects myself with taking an addiction survey. I will use studies to back up my claim about how social media affects the rest of the world.
The results show that I am fairly reliant on social media. With my results saying,
You're fairly reliant on social media, but there are far worse culprits! Still, it's good to be reminded that UK adults spend an average of 8 hrs 41 mins on screens every day, and 4 hours of that on smartphone apps alone (mainly social media). That's about a third of each day checking apps. Do you need to rethink your social media habits and the amount of time you spend scrolling?
I think I need to have some change in my social media usage. I have using social media too much too the point were a survey says I have been fairly reliant on social media. I think I will start to cut on my social media usage but not too much. Because I am not that reliant on social media.
I choose this statistic because it relates to me the most and I think it is very accurate to the society I live in. This statistic relates to me the most because three out of the four top social media sites that the 18-29 demographics use I use. With those sites being Snapchat, Instagram, and YouTube. I think this study is accurate to the society I live in. With a lot of people I talk to using Snapchat and Instagram a lot. But where I differ from most of the people I talk to is TikTok with a lot of people know using it while I don't. Because I do not trust that company with my information.
I believe that social media has had positive and negative effects on society. The positive effects that it is far easier for humans to interact with each other. Which makes it easier for humans to have relationships with other and easier for humans to work on projects. There are two negatives though being social media can become addictive and social media companies having too much power. Social media similar too alcohol with the wrong usage can be addictive which leads too issues with your brain and mental health issues such as depression and anxiety. Social media companies have also became too powerful with these companies being able to censor whoever they want and allowing there platforms too be addictive so these companies can get more profit.
I learned a couple of things. I learned that I need to spend less time on social media, my generation does not TikTok as much as I thought, and social media in some ways is similar to alcohol. I learned that while I don't have the worst usage of social media I should lower my usage still. I realized the only 48 percent of adults in my group use TikTok which surprised me because a lot of people I know use TikTok. I learned that social media is similar to alcohol, while in moderation can be ok to good but when used too much it can cause a lot of damage to.
