Colin grew up in St. Paul, Minnesota, where early exposure to the arts sparked his creative drive. When asked by his fourth grade art teacher what he wanted to be when he grew up, Colin said "a museum curator" as if that were the obvious answer... After falling in love with film, Colin wrote his senior thesis about the resilience of movie theaters in the digital age.
When Colin moved to Chicago in 2022 to attend DePaul University's film program, his interests shifted from film production to film exhibition. He became passionate about film programming after attending the 2022 Chicago International Film Festival. With that passion, he volunteered on the screening committee for the 2023 festival, interned on the feature film programming team for the 2024 festival season, and worked as a theater manager for the 2025 festival.
Creatively, Colin found himself in the world of experimental film. His 2023 short film, "this land is your land", won the award for Best Experimental Film at DePaul's Premiere Film Festival. Also in 2023, Colin became President of the DePaul Experimental Film Club, where he grew the club from a small group that met only three times per year into a robust student resource that hosted experimental film events every other week.
In late 2024, Colin found several opportunities to combine his interests in film programming and experimental film. He joined the screening committees for Ann Arbor Film Festival and Onion City Experimental Film Festival. He also began to work as assistant to the curator of 150 Media Stream, a massive public media installation in downtown Chicago.
In June of 2025, Colin earned his BFA in Film and Television from DePaul University. He graduated with additional Minors in Experimental Filmmaking and Cinema & Media Studies.
