Decomposition

The diagram below shows how decomposition can be used to break down a simple problem to show all the smaller tasks involved in solving the bigger complex problem.

Try creating a map of your own where you break down a problem of your choice to show all the smaller tasks involved like the example shown below. If you had to plan a party, how would you break down all the different things you had to get done to make the party a success?

In the example below we are seeing that the person thought of what date the party was to be held. They looked at what theme the party would be, what activities would be done at the party, where the party would be held. In mapping out all the smaller issues you can get a clearer picture of how to solve the bigger issue of your birthday party.

You can try one of your own. It does not have to be a party. It could be any task of your choice. Use the map below as a guide.
