SYSTEM & EQUIPMENTS
Our laboratory is home to a state-of-the-art cold collision apparatus, a flagship facility that stands as a first-of-its-kind research instrument in India. Designed to probe the fundamental quantum nature of molecular interactions, this machine facilitates the controlled intersection of two supersonic gaseous beams, allowing for the observation of scattering dynamics at the cold frontier. To decode these complex interactions, the system integrates high-resolution Velocity Map Imaging (VMI) and Mass Spectrometry, providing a complete picture of product identification and momentum distribution. This is not merely a standalone instrument but a sophisticated, integrated ecosystem consisting of multiple specialized auxiliary systems—ranging from multi-stage ultra-high vacuum (UHV) chambers and precision pulsed valves to custom-engineered ion optics and high-speed timing electronics. The convergence of these advanced components creates a unique, high-level experimental platform, offering researchers a rare opportunity to engage with world-class instrumentation while pushing the boundaries of chemical physics and molecular scattering.
