Spyderco Civilian

Description

In the 1990s Spyderco was approached with a technical branch of U.S. law enforcement about creating a knife to get their undercover agents. These plain-clothes LEOs found themselves in situations where they frequently couldn't carry a firearm but carrying a knife wasn't a problem. Most had no formal instruction in self-defense strategies or MBC but as a last resort may use a blade to protect or extricate themselves from a life threatening circumstance. This was how the Civilian version was.

The Civilian includes a patented reverse"S" blade that is meant to be used like an oversized claw. The trick is ground into an abysmal profile. Deeply curved and complete at the stomach, the VG-10 ground blade excels in clipping and is available entirely SpyderEdged. Due to its distinctly specialized features it's not designed or intended for general utility or regular use. Curved in all the correct areas for ergonomic retention and use of this knife, the handle is black G-10. A two-position clip affirms discreet tip-up or tip down carry on the right side. Among the most specialized CLIPITS® from the Spyderco line-up, the Civilian is available in limited amounts.

Spyderco produces the hollow-ground steel blade to the Civilian out of Japanese-made VG-10 steel, that is hard steel with superior edge-retention and all-purpose managing performance.
