Star Explorer Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 21, 2026

1. Scope
This policy describes the location and camera features, Google Firebase and AdMob data handling in Star Explorer (별자리 탐험, Android package com.doo.starexplorer).
The child-protective configuration for all users and removal of advertising permissions described below apply from version 0.5.1(23). Older installed versions may process advertising IDs or other information according to their SDK and permission settings. Updating this page does not change how an older installed version behaves.
2. Location, camera and sensors
With permission, latitude, longitude and accuracy are used on the device to calculate celestial directions. If a current location is unavailable, a reference city is suggested from the device time zone or selected by you. This city is not a detected location. The app does not request background location permission.
Camera permission is requested when you turn on the camera. Images are used for preview and photos you request. Direction sensors determine where the phone points. These location values, camera images and sensor readings are not sent to a developer server or added to advertising or analytics events. The app does not provide AI image recognition or an uploaded-photo analysis service.
3. Local storage and photo editing
Language, display preferences, reference city and camera correction settings are stored locally. Location can restore the current session; the app does not collect a separate location history. Photos are saved in the device gallery or a document destination you choose. The app does not add GPS EXIF tags.
Memos, shapes and drawings are processed on the device. You can replace the original JPEG or save a new file. Replacing the original changes the existing photo. After closing and reopening the editor, annotations are flattened into the image and cannot be selected as separate objects. Photos and memos are not sent to Firebase or AdMob. Editing source copies, photos awaiting export and original-photo recovery backups may be stored in private app storage. The app cleans up the corresponding files after normal editor completion, successful export or completed recovery. Interrupted work may retain files needed for recovery. Clearing app data or uninstalling removes these private copies and recovery files.
4. Analytics, diagnostics and advertising
Google Analytics for Firebase processes app launches, screen and feature usage events, app/device information and identifiers such as an app instance identifier to understand usage. Firebase Crashlytics processes crash/error stacks, app, operating system and device state, and installation identifiers for diagnosis. Developer-added analytics events and error records do not include photos, memo text or precise coordinates.
Google AdMob provides interstitial and native ads. The app applies the same child-protective advertising configuration to every user. Before initializing the Google ads SDK, it sets child-directed treatment (CHILD) and a maximum ad content rating of G. It also uses the UMP under-age-of-consent treatment (TFUA). These settings do not collect a person’s age or determine that every user is a child. The app has no separate adult advertising branch.
This version is configured to exclude the four Android permissions for the advertising ID and Privacy Sandbox advertising identifiers, attribution and topics. Firebase Analytics advertising-ID collection, ad-personalization signals and advertising user-data allowance are also disabled. These restrictions concern advertising identifiers and advertising purposes. Analytics app-instance identifiers and diagnostic installation identifiers continue to be processed as explained above.
For ad delivery, measurement and fraud prevention, the Google ads SDK may process and share IP addresses, usage and ad interactions, and diagnostic information. An IP address can imply an approximate region. The app does not separately pass GPS coordinates used for astronomy calculations to the advertising SDK. Child-protective advertising settings do not remove all processing of personal or network information.
SDK data is transmitted to Google services and may be processed outside your country, depending on service processing locations. Transmission safeguards, retention and deletion follow the relevant service policies and actual app settings. Uninstalling does not immediately delete all data already transmitted to these services.

5. Controls and deletion
You can revoke camera/location permissions in Android settings. This version is configured not to use the advertising ID; resetting that ID does not delete the app’s analytics or installation identifiers. Where advertising privacy choices are required, you can change the available choices through advertising privacy options in app settings. You can use a reference city without location permission. Taking photos requires camera permission.
Clearing app data or uninstalling removes local preferences. Photos saved in your gallery or documents can remain after uninstalling; delete them using the corresponding gallery or file app. The app provides no account registration, login or developer account server. Contact the address above for privacy access/deletion requests. We will explain the available response after checking what data can be identified and what the relevant service supports.
6. Children and guardians
Children should use the app with a guardian. Guardians should review location and camera permissions, photo destinations, and the data practices of websites opened through external links. The app does not require account registration or date-of-birth entry. It applies the same restricted advertising configuration described above to everyone. Privacy or deletion requests concerning children can also be sent to the contact address above. We will check what data can be identified and what handling the relevant services support.
Watch for surrounding obstacles when observing the sky, and never look directly at the Sun. Safety guidance does not replace privacy consent or a guardian’s review.
7. External links and changes
Policy and data-source links open a browser and are subject to the destination website's policies. Changes to features or SDK data handling will be reflected here with an updated effective date.
