COLAX ("we", "our", or "us") operates the COLAX mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our services.
1. Information We Collect
To provide a secure campus community platform, we collect the following data:
Account Information: Email address and login credentials via Firebase Authentication.
User-Generated Content: Photos, titles, descriptions, price info, and location details uploaded for Marketplace listings or Lost & Found items.
Location Information: COLAX may access the device's location when a user enables Driver Mode and grants the required location permission. The driver's location may be used to provide real-time location-based features, including reflecting the driver's current location on relevant maps and other areas of the COLAX application where location information is required. Location access may continue while Driver Mode is active, including when the application is running in the background, if the user has granted the required background location permission.
Driver Mode Access: Driver Mode is protected by a separate password and is intended only for authorized drivers. Only users who have the required Driver Mode password can activate and use Driver Mode and its location-based functionality.
Communications: Messages sent between buyers and sellers within the app.
Device & Safety Data: User reports and blocked user records to enforce platform safety.
2. How We Use Your Information
To authenticate user accounts and prevent fraudulent activity.
To list Marketplace items and Lost & Found notices.
To enable user-to-user reporting and seller blocking in accordance with Google Play User-Generated Content policies.
To provide location-based features for college vehicles and display or associate relevant Marketplace and Lost & Found content with locations.
To provide real-time driver location functionality and display the driver's location on relevant maps and services within COLAX.
To enable location-based features when Driver Mode is activated.
To restrict Driver Mode and its location functionality to authorized users through password protection.
3. Data Sharing & Third-Party Services
We do not sell your personal data. We utilize trusted Google Cloud infrastructure services to operate the application safely:
Firebase Authentication (User management)
Cloud Firestore & Cloud Storage for Firebase (Data and image storage)
4. Account & Data Deletion
Users have full control over their data. You can delete your account and wipe all associated posts, listings, and profile details directly within the app by navigating to:
**Settings > Danger Zone > Delete Account & Personal Data**
