CoinGuru — Privacy Policy

CoinGuru is committed to protecting your privacy. We collect only what we need to provide the service, we never sell your personal data, and we give you full control over your information.

1. Information We Collect

Account information — When you create an account: your email address and a password (stored as a secure hash). No full name, phone number, or address is required.

Coin images (temporary) — When you use AI Scan, the coin photo is sent to Claude AI (Anthropic) for analysis. Images are processed in real time and are never stored on our servers after analysis is complete.

Scan history (local only) — Records of your coin scans are stored locally on your device only. We do not upload your scan history to any server.

Scan points balance — Your purchased scan points balance is securely synced to our cloud (Supabase) so you don't lose points if you reinstall or switch devices.

Purchase records — When you buy scan points, RevenueCat processes the payment via Google Play. We receive only confirmation of the purchase amount and product ID — never your card details.

What we do NOT collect — We do not collect your location, contacts, call logs, device identifiers, browsing history, SMS, microphone recordings, or any data unrelated to coin identification.

2. How We Use Your Information

Account authentication — Your email is used only to log you in, send password reset emails, and identify your account. We do not send marketing emails.

AI coin identification — Coin photos are sent to Claude AI solely to identify the coin and return information to you. The image is not used for training AI models and is deleted after the response is generated.

Points sync — Your scan points balance is synced to the cloud so it's preserved across reinstalls and devices.

3. Data Sharing and Third Parties

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. Data is shared only with the following service providers to operate the app:

• Anthropic (Claude AI) — Receives coin images for identification only. Images are not retained after processing.

• Supabase — Stores your account credentials (email + hashed password) and points balance. Data is encrypted at rest and in transit.

• RevenueCat — Manages in-app purchases. Receives purchase confirmation from Google Play.

• Google Play — Distributes the app and processes payments. We do not receive your full payment details.

We may disclose information if required by law or court order. We will notify affected users where legally permitted.

4. Data Storage and Security

• All data transmitted uses TLS 1.2+ encryption.

• Account data in Supabase is encrypted at rest using AES-256.

• Your scan history lives only on your device. Uninstalling the app permanently removes it.

• Coin photos are sent over an encrypted connection, processed by Claude AI, and immediately discarded. No image is stored on our servers.

5. Your Rights and Choices

You have full control over your data:

• Delete your account anytime from the Profile screen

• Clear your scan history from Settings at any time

• Request a copy of all data we hold about you

• Request permanent deletion of your account and data

• Use the app without an account (guest mode)

6. Children's Privacy

CoinGuru is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we discover that a child under 13 has created an account, we will delete that account and all associated data immediately.

7. Data Retention

• Account data — Retained while your account is active. Permanently deleted within 30 days of account deletion request.

• Coin images — Not retained. Deleted immediately after AI analysis is complete.

• Scan history — Stored locally on your device only. Deleted when you clear history or uninstall the app.

• Purchase records — Retained for 7 years to comply with financial regulations, then permanently deleted.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top. For material changes, we will notify you via in-app notice or email at least 14 days before the change takes effect.
