"It's a difficult responsibility."
– Burgermeister Meisterburger.
"Mr. Meisterburger, tear down this ice shelf!"
– Winter Warlock.
"Well, everybody had a wonderful laugh, and then forgot all about him."
– Wait, is that Fred Astaire or James Woods?
Demeisterburgerization (AKA demeisterization or deburgerization) is a term coined by the citizens of the Sombertown settlement in Memory Hole, a universe defined by nostalgia, childhood trauma, and racist media from decades gone by. This term refers to the process that began following the 1970 downfall and failed reappointment of Burgermeister Meisterburger, the feared anti-toy mayor of the Sombertown settlement and German stereotype from a contemporary perspective. Once Meisterburger left office and his toy crackdown campaign, The Fifth Reich, was discontinued, King Moonraiser I ordered numerous Meisterburger laws, including the 1958 Brewery Tour Enforcement Act, the 1962 Lederhosen Day Proclaimation, and the 1967 Yo-Yo Amateur Execution Act, to be struck down within the month. In his own words:
"I agree that mental health is a pointless matter not worth passing laws for, hence my staunch support for lobotomies, but children deserve down-time between labor, as we all do. The Meisterburger tripping on the wooden duckie and his subsequent broken funny bone was a toy placement issue, not an injustice from the toy itself. For this reason, among others, it cannot be more clear—the old ways of the Meisterburger bloodline must not be allowed to persist."
Soon after this announcement was made, the 1970 Demeisterburgerization Act was passed, ordering all households, essential businesses, and municipal structures to remove their Meisterburger propaganda, memorabilia, and erotica from the premises, which was carried out by the townsfolk with glee. As this process went on, however, a disgraced Meisterburger made an agonizing trek to the Sombertown Highlands where Winter Warlock and Kris Kringle's old friend Topper the Penguin resided, proceeding to pull out an M3 machine gun and kill both Santa Claus associates on the spot. He then pushed his way up the mountain and towards Claus' castle, presumably to murder Mr. and Mrs. Claus, only to fight and ultimately be swallowed alive by Bumbles the Abominable Snowman. Director Alejandro González Iñárritu has cited this incident as being the primary inspiration for his 2015 adventure film, The Revenant.
Many choose to interpret the disastrous 1974 Heat Miser Reign as a reincarnation of the deceased Burgermeister Meisterburger.
