Designed for Spanish Students by an English Teacher working in Spain

The Cognate Reader books are all set in the same fictional school in Madrid called Arvello. The main characters are students at the school, studying ESO and Bachillerato, and the plots are based around school events familiar to Spanish readers, such as exchange visits, and are set in familar locations involving routines and situations which might take place in a student's real life.

The vocabulary and grammar used in each book is graded according to the level of the reader's ability in English.

Each book and eBook contains the main text, a Key Word Glossary and Exercises.

KEY WORD GLOSSARY

The Key Word Glossary is a short, English-Spanish list of words which is not intended to be comprehensive but to help readers with unusual or difficult words to not impede home reading. The words in the lists also link to Key Word Glossary Vocabulary Worksheets available from the author.

EXERCISES

The Exercises are five comprehension questions and a grammar exercise based on BOCM, Cambridge or level-appropriate questions. Every chapter in the book comes with questions and an exercise. Some of the exercises are duplicated between levels, though not all. Answers are available from the author.
