Privacy Policy
Effective Date: May 1, 2026
Last Updated: May 1, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Christian Altamura ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Coffee Friday mobile application ("App"). By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide
Account Information. When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and profile photo (if provided). If you sign in with Apple, we receive the information you choose to share through Apple's sign-in service, which may include your name and email address (or an Apple relay email address).
Reviews and Ratings. When you submit a review, we collect the text of your review, your star rating, drink name, drink rating, and the date of your visit.
Photos. When you upload photos with your reviews or to a coffee shop listing, we collect and store those images.
Coffee Shop Information. When you add a new coffee shop, we collect the information you provide, including the shop name, address, hours, amenities, and drink offerings.
Podium and Favorites. We store your ranked coffee shop list and saved favorites.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
Location Data. With your permission, we collect your device's location to show nearby coffee shops on the map and to provide distance information. Location data is used in real time and is not stored on our servers beyond what is necessary to provide the service. You can disable location access at any time through your device settings, though this will limit the App's functionality.
Usage Data. We collect information about how you interact with the App, including features used, screens viewed, and actions taken. This helps us improve the App and understand usage patterns.
Device Information. We may collect device type, operating system version, unique device identifiers, and crash data to diagnose issues and improve performance.
1.3 Information from Third-Party Services
Apple Sign-In. If you use Sign in with Apple, we receive your name and email address (or Apple's private relay email) as authorized by you.
RevenueCat. If you make a purchase or subscribe, RevenueCat processes the transaction and provides us with subscription status information. We do not directly collect or store your payment information.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
Provide, maintain, and improve the App.
Create and manage your account.
Display coffee shops, reviews, ratings, and photos to you and other users.
Show nearby coffee shops based on your location.
Power gamification features including points, badges, streaks, leaderboards, and the Coffee Shop of the Week recommendation.
Process subscriptions and in-app purchases.
Send you important notices about the App (such as changes to these terms).
Analyze usage trends to improve the user experience.
Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and technical issues.
3. How We Share Your Information
3.1 Publicly Visible Information
The following information is visible to other users of the App: your display name, profile photo, level/title, badges displayed on your profile, reviews and ratings you submit, photos you upload, your podium rankings (if shared), and your position on leaderboards (if you appear on them).
3.2 Third-Party Service Providers
We use the following third-party services to operate the App:
Firebase (Google). We use Firebase for authentication, database (Cloud Firestore), file storage (Firebase Storage), serverless functions (Cloud Functions), analytics, and crash reporting (Crashlytics). Firebase processes and stores data on our behalf. For more information, see Google's privacy policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy.
RevenueCat. We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions and in-app purchases. RevenueCat receives transaction data from Apple and provides us with subscription status. For more information, see RevenueCat's privacy policy at https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy.
Apple MapKit. We use Apple MapKit to display maps and provide location-based search. Map interactions are subject to Apple's privacy policy at https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy.
3.3 Other Disclosures
We may disclose your information if required by law, legal process, or government request, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Christian Altamura, our users, or the public.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored using Firebase (Google Cloud infrastructure) in the United States. We implement reasonable security measures to protect your information, including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS) and Firebase's built-in security features. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
5. Data Retention
We retain your account information and User Content for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or legitimate business purposes. Anonymized or aggregated data (such as aggregate ratings) may be retained indefinitely.
Reviews and photos you have submitted may remain visible after account deletion in anonymized form to preserve the integrity of the review database.
6. Your Rights and Choices
6.1 Account Information
You can access, update, or correct your account information through the App's profile settings at any time.
6.2 Account Deletion
You can request deletion of your account and associated personal data by contacting us at the email address below. We will process your request within 30 days.
6.3 Location Data
You can enable or disable location services for the App through your device's settings. Disabling location services will prevent the map and nearby shop features from functioning.
6.4 Camera and Photo Library
You can manage the App's access to your camera and photo library through your device's settings.
6.5 Push Notifications
If we implement push notifications in the future, you will be able to manage notification preferences through your device's settings.
7. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at the email address below.
8. California Residents
If you are a California resident, you may have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to request deletion, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information. To exercise your rights, contact us at the email address below.
9. International Users
If you are accessing the App from outside the United States, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States. By using the App, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States.
