Cody's Crew is a non-profit organization established to honor the memory of Cody Mogensen by uplifting and supporting Individuals in their journey of recovery from addiction. Through compassion, acts of kindness and community engagement, we strive to raise spirits, foster connection, and provide encouragement for individuals to lead fulfilling and meaningful lives.
In 2007, Cody Mogensen was 18 years old and attacked and brutally beaten with a hammer crushing in his skull while delivering pizzas in his spare time. The attack and a long stay in the hospital, led to and addiction to opioids and many years in and out of recovery. In 2021, Cody died from an accidental overdose of fentanyl-laced heroin. A year later, Cody's mom, Lori Hawes began Cody's Crew.
Most of Cody's Crew volunteering is at Charlotte Rescue Mission (CRM) where we often prepare and serve lunches to the 150 or so residents. In addition, we host inspirational and fun events and crafting events. We provide the men with holiday cards to send to loved ones and participate in beautification projects. Also, we work alongside families affected by addiction to strengthen bonds, promote healing, and work to build a supportive and compassionate community.
