Overview
CodeCompose is a Chrome browser extension that inserts syntax-highlighted code blocks into Gmail. This privacy policy explains how CodeCompose handles data.
Data Collection
CodeCompose does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data. The extension has no backend server, no analytics, and no tracking of any kind.
What the Extension Accesses
CodeCompose accesses the Gmail compose window solely to detect selected text and insert formatted code blocks. The content of your emails is never read, stored, or transmitted outside of your browser.
Local Storage
CodeCompose uses Chrome's built-in chrome.storage.sync to save your preferences — specifically your selected theme, font size, default language, and label visibility setting. These settings are stored locally in your Chrome profile and synced across your devices by Chrome. No preference data is sent to any external server.
Permissions
CodeCompose requests the following permissions:
contextMenus — to add the "Insert Code Block" option to the right-click menu when text is selected in Gmail
storage — to save your theme and formatting preferences locally
Access to mail.google.com — to inject the code block functionality into Gmail's compose window
Third Parties
CodeCompose does not share any data with third parties. No third-party scripts, libraries, or services are loaded by the extension.
