The elves have been taking it in turns to write in the North Pole's diary. Here is yesterday's entry:
Diary entry 1:
The north pole workshop is buzzing with excitement as preparations for christmas continue day and night. Elves are busy wrapping presents, checking toy lists, polishing sleigh runners, and making sure that every detail is perfect for santa's big journey. The sound of tinkling bells fills the air, mixing with the warm scent of gingerbread and the glow of lanterns guiding everyone through the snow-covered pathways.
Diary entry 2:
The snow outside fell in thick drifting waves today, settling on the rooftops and wrapping the north pole in a soft white blanket. Inside, the warmth of the fireplaces kept spirits high as elves stitched plush toys, sorted letters from children, and prepared gift bags in enormous piles that reached almost to the ceiling. A gentle tune played from an old radio in the corner, and for a moment the whole workshop seemed perfectly still as if the entire room was holding its breath in quiet anticipation of the magical days ahead.
The diary entry is written in a way that contains access to day two's gift. See if you can apply some simple string manipulation to get the gift!
Attach the two diary entries to two different variables.Â
You will need to remove all of the white space in both of the the diary entries, this will reduce the overall length of the string of course.
You will then need to find the middle position of the string's length for both strings.
For example, the middle position of the string abc is of course 1.
0=a
1=b
2=c
Once you have the two middle position values, add them together, here you will find your password.
