It simply crossed my mind and thought of writing this down. I do not know if it's a good or a naive one!
I think truth and beauty are the same thing - in an essence. And perhaps that's the beautiful truth! Not quite identical, it's simply two different sides of the same coin. Inseparable! each implying/ revealing other.
Let's take the simplest example, 'Knowledge'. Knowledge is the truth and there is something deeply beautiful about it! That's the beauty! Okay let's make it more tangible! say you are watching sea and its waves, what is the beauty? sea or the waves? The truth is waves and sea are the same and they are not separate. A wave can never exist without the sea. At least I will never enjoy a sea watching if there are no waves, it's a Dead Sea😒 ! Still and non enchanting!
Take another simple example , sunset. Is its beauty in its colors or does it arise because it reveals something true about its own nature to the world ? Perhaps, its own order, its own impermanence. Perhaps beauty is simply truth revealing itself.
And yeah ofcourse in some cases, the truth seems/feels to be harsh, that may not look beautiful at the beginning. Yet time has a mysterious way of changing our perspective. We adapt, we grow, and when we look back, those very truths often leave behind their own kind of beauty - not too pleasant experience of course but because they shape us.
This leads me to another question: Is truth the ultimate beauty or is beauty the ultimate truth? Which adorns the other? Or neither? Because they are the one and same.
Now I know I'm beginning to sound like a riddle.
No, I am not claiming an answer to this, rather I don't need to. Because I would like to leave it like that, unsolved!
As aptly Tagore said one 'Satya Sundaro!'🤍
P.S. 'Satya' bengali word for truth and 'Sundaro' bengali word for beauty.
