First, mark your calendars for the 1st Annual Nature Walk fundraiser on Friday, 11/1.  

The PTA Reflections program is a nationwide arts recognition initiative designed to encourage students to explore and engage in the arts. Here are some key details:

Overview

• Purpose: The program aims to inspire creativity and self-expression among students in various artistic disciplines.

• Eligibility: Open to students from pre-K through 12th grade.

Categories

Students can submit works in several categories, including:

• Visual Arts: Paintings, drawings, and sculptures.

• Literature: Poetry, short stories, and essays.

• Photography: Original photographs capturing a theme.

• Music Composition: Original music pieces.

• Dance Choreography: Original dance routines.

Theme

Each year, the program has a specific theme that students are encouraged to interpret in their submissions. This theme varies annually and provides a framework for creativity.

Submission Process

• Students create original works based on the theme.

• Works are submitted to their local PTA for judging.

• Outstanding entries can advance to the district, state, and national levels.

Benefits

• Encourages Creativity: Students explore and express their thoughts and feelings through art.

• Builds Confidence: Participation helps develop self-esteem and confidence in their abilities.

• Recognition: Students receive recognition for their hard work, which can include awards, showcases, and certificates.

How to Get Involved

New this year, the PTA is sponsoring 

We’re excited to share information about our school programs designed to support and enrich your child’s education.

Our Book Vending Machine Positive Behavior Rewards have begun arriving. This new initiative is designed to foster a love for reading among students by rewarding students with books. 

Additionally, be sure to join us for our next PTA meeting on Friday, November 8 at 2:30 pm in the school library, where we'll discuss upcoming projects and welcome any input from our valued members. Thank you for your continued support, and let's continue to make this school year a memorable one for our children!

   • Tutoring sessions are available after school for subjects like math and reading.

   • Homework clubs offer a collaborative environment for students to complete assignments.

2. Extracurricular Activities:

   • Join our after-school clubs, including arts, science, and sports.

We are off to a great start of the 2024-2025 school year.  Thank you to everyone who attended both our Kindergarten and 1st - 5th orientations.  We loved seeing your students' smiling faces at our back-to-school events and on the first day!  We had a huge response to our spirit-wear sale, and we will be sharing new designs with each of you in the coming weeks.

Our 2024-2025 PTA Executive Board Nominations are underway.  Please consider joining a committee or giving your time as a PTA board member.  Our executive board meets once per month, on a Friday after school @ 2:30 pm in the library, where we will work to enrich each student's learning experience and discuss ways to collaborate with our teachers and staff at Cochrane.
