(From http://challengerbaseball.ca/about)
Challenger Baseball is a program that involves children with cognitive or physical disabilities in the sport of baseball, allowing them the opportunity to enjoy all the physical and social benefits of playing baseball, in an environment that recognizes and adapts to their special needs.
The game is played in a safe, recreational environment, where no score is kept. Each participant is treated like every other player in the conventional baseball program. All players are on a team, and are outfitted in uniforms and use the same equipment.
You have to see the joy on the face of each participant in Challenger Baseball to appreciate just how much fun they are having. They become just like everyone else enjoying a fun, popular past-time.
In Cochrane, the program is run in conjunction with the Cochrane Minor Baseball Association.
