Las Vegas Fur Con is a convention held every April in Las Vegas, Nevada, well-renowned in the furry fandom for its party-like atmosphere that is solely unique to LVFC. One night, I had a vision for a brand new logo for the convention and decided to put pen to paper and make it happen.
Given how synonymous gambling imagery is with Las Vegas, it felt fitting to me to have a pair of dice as the centerpiece for the new logo, with the LVFC initials each taking up an individual face of the die (with the top of one dice saying "Est. 2017"). To help give the logo a bit of furry flair, I designed a tail that tucks behind the second dice and wraps around the bottom half of the logo, with the sunset-style colors of the tail being lifted from the logo that the convention currently utilized as a way to sort-of "pay homage" to the convention's history.
Super Animal Royale is a 64-player 2D Battle Royale style game released by Pixile Studios in 2021. The game features several different breeds of anthropomorphic animals, each of which features its own distinct, unique color palette, as well as various different cosmetics that can be obtained in-game to help create one's own unique character.
In 2023, a photo booth feature was added to the game that allows users to take pictures of their characters in various different poses, which is what I utilized when creating this graphic, which features a blue-and-purple star themed deer character flying into the foreground with a lightning bolt trail behind them.
Distortion was a lime flavor released by Mountain Dew as a part of the DEWmocracy 2010 campaign, where Mountain Dew fans got a chance to vote on three brand-new flavors with the flavor receiving the most votes becoming a part of the year-round Dew lineup. Distortion did not win the contest and has not been released since... but what if that changed?
Firstly, to align with Mountain Dew's recent rebrand that puts a heavy emphasis on exploring the great outdoors, I decided that the name "Distortion" would be best served by creating the surface of a moon-like planet in the background. To further add to the theme, I added several space-exploration themed props, such as a futuristic laboratory, a rover drone, some futuristic panels, and a flag with the "MD" initials outside the space camp. Additionally, I thought it would be a fun idea to add a UFO to the left side of the design, with the UFO being shaped and colored like a lime, further adding to the theme.
Atomic Blue was a blue lemonade flavor released by Mountain Dew in 2020, only available as a fountain drink option at Sheetz convenience stores across much of the northeastern United States. The flavor was discontinued in 2024, not long before Mountain Dew launched their brand new logo and brand theming, and I decided Atomic Blue deserved a DEW-over of its own.
Firstly, the flavor name "Atomic Blue" is tied in well with the logo, which features a stylized "Atomic Blue" wordmark with the O being replaced by a drawing of an atom; additionally, I added several atoms of varying colors and sizes around the logo to help add to the "atomic" theme of the drink.
Since Sheetz is a chain of gas stations and convenience stores -- two staples of any long, open-road adventure -- I added a highway design going from the bottom of the label out into the horizon, pointing in towards the Mountain Dew logo in the center of the label.
This project really forced me to think outside the box and push my comfort zone in certain regards; several times while making this I had to sit down and ask myself if the design I was making was truly what I wanted to go for when I initially had the idea, but I decided to stick with it and be resilient, and the final product turned out how I wanted it to in the end!
