2025 Coastal MTB Interest Form
Are you ready to shreds some trails, make new friends, and upgrade your skills?
Coastal MTB is a scholastic mountain bike team made up of 6-12 graders in the North County San Diego area. We compete in the SoCal League that has been around for over 15 years and consists of over 1500 athletes and volunteer 750 coaches. We also do lots of non-competitive events like riding local trails, bikepacking, and hitting the bike parks on occasion.
Our riders typically have hardtail mountain bikes with just a front suspension, but any trail ready bike will do. We also have have an enduro racing program that requires a higher level of skill and safety equipment.
During the season, practices are usually Thursday afternoons for 1.5 to 2 hours depending on the daylight, and Saturday mornings for 2-3 hours. Weekday practices are in the San Elijo Hills area. Saturday practice locations include Lake Hodges, Black Mountain, the Laguna Mountains and Vail Lake Resort in Temecula.
We usually split our practices into 3 groups based on fitness and skills so we can accommodate both the beginner riders as well as the advanced. Riders will be given a training program and expected to complete workouts at home including weight training and indoor trainer workouts.
All of our team coaches are required to have background checks, skills training, and many of our coaches are trained in first aide and CPR. Typically, we have 8-10 riders with 2 coaches and one of those coaches is required to have first aide/CPR training.
Team fees are $200 fee per rider, per season. SoCal league fees are and additional $125. You will be given instructions on how to pay the fees once you complete the form below.
Riders are allowed to join the team for one practice before officially joining. Please complete the waiver linked below and email to Derrick Francis @ techfrancis@gmail.com.
