Keelin Hurtt
Hi Everyone!! I am first year dental student from Old Lyme, CT. I am new to the biking scene and am doing Coast 2 Coast to challenge myself, raise money for an amazing cause, and use my voice as a tool to promote heath care equity. We will all become traveling reproductive rights advocates along our journey, and I hope to spread the importance of removing barriers for all abortion seekers. Legality does not equal access, and I hope to have a direct impact on increasing accessibility for people in our local community!! A fun fact about me is that I'm always down for a slow and steady hot air balloon ride!!
Claire Surkis
Hello! I am Claire and I was born and raised in Farmington! I grew up biking with my family. I was initially forced into it, however I have grown to love it in all its forms, whether it be bike paths, mountain biking, or bike-packing across the country! I could not imagine a more wonderful intersection of my passions, than doing something that I love (biking across the country), raising money for a cause that I love (increasing abortion access). I am passionate about this cause because I believe that abortion is healthcare, and that healthcare is a human right. I also believe in pregnant persons right to bodily autonomy, and see equitable access to abortion as absolutely a critical issue in ensuring that autonomy.
A fun fact about me is that my first bike-packing trip was in Holland during tulip season, and yes I did get to ride through some tulip fields!
Kayla Kendall
Hi! I'm Kayla, I'm a first year medical student from Richmond, RI and I am so excited to be embarking on this journey from coast to coast this summer with such an incredible group of people to raise money to fund abortion access. Being able to access an abortion when needed is an essential form of healthcare and a human right. Yet it is a right that the most vulnerable people in our community have been stripped of due to the financial barriers they face. All of the money we raise for the reach fund will go towards dismantling these barriers, making access to abortion more equitable, and giving people in need of an abortion their freedom back! Thank you for your support and we hope you'll enjoy following along with us!
A fun fact about me is that I have collectively backpacked 1000 miles with trips in New Hampshire, Colorado, the Sierra Nevadas, and Greece, but this will be my first trip with a bike!
Maura Radigan
Hey everyone I'm Maura! I'm a first year med student from North Kingstown, RI, and I am stoked to be doing Coast to Coast. I love adventure, the outdoors, and ....well, bodily autonomy. So biking across the country to help improve abortion access seemed like a good plan for my summer! I'm excited to be raising money for the REACH fund because safe, legal, and accessible abortion is essential healthcare and should be available to all people who need it. I hope that by speaking up about this topic we can help educate about and destigmatize abortion while removing barriers to care within our community.
A fun fact about me is that I love wiener dogs and really cannot wait until I have my own.
Liz Narwold
Hi I’m Liz and I’m a first year medical student from West Hartford, CT. I’m always down for an adventure and biking across the country in support of reproductive rights sounds like a great one. In the process, I plan to use my voice to advocate for safe, legal, and accessible abortion from state to state. We all deserve the right to make our own decisions regarding our health and our bodies. I hope we not only make abortion more accessible within our community, but that we also inspire others to speak up. One fun thing about me is that I lived and worked on a flower farm before starting medical school!
Rogan Kaisen
Hello! I am Rogan and I am from Guilford, CT. I heard about the trip early on in medical school and knew it was something I would love to do. This will be my third cross-country trip in as many years, although the bike component will be very new to me. I am so happy that we can support such a great cause, abortion should be a protected right and I am so happy to be able to play a little part in en suring that it is.
A fun fact about me is that I have never ridden a bike for more than 10 miles, so we’ll see how this goes!
Audrey Grotheer
Hello! My name is Audrey, and I'm a first year medical student from Woodbridge, CT. I firmly believe that abortion is essential health care and a personal choice that should be legal, safe, and accessible across the country. I'm so excited to have the opportunity to participate in this adventure in support of such an important cause.
One fun fact about me is that if I wasn't going to be a doctor, I'd want to be a librarian because I love to read!
