COALESCE members participated in the 2024 Farm Progress Show in Boone, IA, engaging with the public to discuss ongoing research. Attendees had the opportunity to learn about projects such as the PestID chatbot and gain insight into how AI is shaping agricultural advancements.
At the Global Youth Institute during the World Food Prize, WIAA presented to an audience of approximately 200 students, highlighting how AI is integrated into agricultural research. Attendees also participated in a hands-on demonstration of InsectNet, an AI tool designed for insect identification.
A group of junior and senior high school students from 4-H programs across Iowa visited Iowa State University to explore agricultural innovation. Workforce in Ag & AI (WIAA) led interactive presentations and hands-on stations, demonstrating how AI tools are developed and applied in agricultural research.
WIAA hosted an engaging activity at SSTFI, where 9th–12th grade students built, coded, and tested their own rovers. Through this hands-on experience, students learned how rovers can be used for field scouting and how AI-powered tools assist in pest identification.
