Born into a Navy family from Northeast Florida, I was blessed to have parents that emphasized discipline and commitment while both exemplifying strong a work ethic. My father, served in the Air Force, Navy and for the Customs Service as a pilot. My mother, after a career in furniture and interior design, opened her own successful interior design business almost 30 years ago.
My high school coaches were strong Christian men that showed me how coach with an edge, but with the ultimate goal in mind - create a well-rounded young man. I played for three playoff teams and a state-runner up in 1999.
While I was in high school, God had my path cross with a man by the name of Shawn Jefferson. Former NFL wide receiver and current NFL position coach, Shawn showed me the right way to train for success. Even though we are very different body types, I learned the importance of explosive, maximum effort training under his tutelage.
After high school, I chose to walk-on to the program that I had dreamed of playing for my entire childhood, The Florida State University and legendary coach Bobby Bowden. While at FSU, the Lord put John Lilly in my path. Coach Lilly further showed me how to handle athletes of different skill levels through the highs and lows of a college football season from a Christian perspective.
Since I was led to leave the sales world and join the coaching ranks in 2006, God has directed my career. He has led me to meet my beautiful and understanding wife, Sara. A college athlete and former coach in her own right, she knows first hand the demands of a season and she is my most fervent supporter. No matter what challenges have come our way, God has provided a way for us, and we aknowledge his hand on our lives.
I love spending quality time with my wife and our girls, but I am also grateful for the career that God has allowed me to lead thus far, and I look forward to many more years impacting the lives of young men through the game of football.
