Updates

Happy Summer 2023 to all...... safe travels to all who are going out of town for summer, or hosting out-of-town guests!  See you all in September 2023 for the new Faith Formation sessions.

May 2023

Blessings to our 5 teens who celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation on May 21, 2023:   Annika T, Kasia W, Aiden K, Max L, and Diego S.   Bishop Cantu came to our parish for this special day, which is also the Feast of the Ascension and the kick-off to our year-long 60th year celeberation 2023-2024.  Our parish was established in 1964.

We also had a lovely Mother's Day project, creating succulent arrangements for Moms together with handmade bookmarks.

The month of May being Our Lady's month, we did our annual Mary Celebration with a special prayer service in Worner Hall followed by a procession to our Lady's Grotto.

April 2023

During the month of April, we walked through the events in Jesus's life during the last days leading to Easter:  the Last Supper, the events in the Garden of Gethsemane, the Stations of the Cross.

To share the joy of EASTER with others, the students put together Easter Gift Bags that were delivered to the homebound and senior citizens from our parish.

On April 22, our students who are preparing for their First Eucharist had a retreat: the day started with a "Teaching Mass" where Fr. Hao celebrated Mass and added comments to help us understand what the Mass is all about -- the background, the vestments, the gestures, the prayers.  The students enjoyed baking bread and later "breaking bread" with their families, just like Jesus did at the Last Supper.

Sunday April 30 was THE special day!   Our students celebrated their First Eucharist; they received the Body of Christ.  Special prayers and blessings to June T, Victoria F, Matteo B, Victoria L, Nipun W, Jose S, Raquel S, Elvis S, and Ester S.

March 2023

Dan Bryant from KAIROS spoke to our students this month about the PRISON MINISTRY.  Dan and his friends spend a weekend with men in prison, sharing their love for the Lord and listening to each other's stories.  The students supported the KAIROS MINISTRY through prayers and the "hands project" -- cut-outs of our hands with written prayers and wishes for all who are participating in the retreat.  See the project in the PHOTOS section of this website.

To prepare for Holy Week, the older students helped the younger students play the GOOD NEWS EGGs game.  Twelve plastic eggs in an egg carton, with each egg containing something related to Holy Week.  This helped us remember and understand the suffering of Jesus for our sake.

The 2nd to the last egg was empty --- to signify the EMPTY TOMB at Easter!  And the final egg had a cotton ball -- to signify the clouds which we see when we look up and remember Jesus's Ascension to heaven.

February 2023

Our teens will be hosting a VALENTINE LUNCH for Senior Citizen members of our parish on Sunday Feb. 12, 2023 -- SuperBowl Sunday!

Take a look at the "photos" section of this website to see the happy faces of all, chatting, eating, and playing BINGO!

Thanks to our volunteers:  Aly, Matteo, Max, Jase, Konrad, Kasia, Enzo, Antonella, Elija, Nikhil, and Aiden.  Special thanks, too to Moms Mariana and Carmita.

All the seniors appreciate you!

The Books of the Bible --  From Genesis  (the first book of the bible) to Revelation (the last book of the Bible),  our students have been working on increasing their understanding of  the Sacred Scriptures.  Check out the photos section of this website and see how Older Students share what they know about the Bible with their Younger Friends.

Important Dates in Feb:

Wednesday Feb. 22, 2023 -- Ash Wednesday  (Masses and imposition of ashes:   8am and 7pm.

Saturday Feb. 25, 2023 -- First Reconciliation service at 10:30am.  Families are  also invited to go to  confession at this time.

January 2023

Happy New Year to all!

Sacrament of Confirmation -  confirming the gifts of the Holy Spirit which were given to us at Baptism

Five of our friends are preparing to celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation on May 21, 2023 when Bishop Cantu comes to visit our parish.  This special day is also the Feast of the Ascension!  Let us pray that Annika, Kasia, Diego, Max, and Aiden experience God's love, mercy and power as the Holy Spirit guides them through this next phase in the spiritual journey.  Let us also pray for Ms. Anne, the catechist who is helping prepare the students for the Sacrament of Confirmation.

Sacrament of Reconciliation and First Eucharist

Ten of our friends will start preparing for the Sacrament of Reconciliation (also known as Confession or Sacrament of Penance) scheduled for February 25, 2023 at 10:30am.  After that, they will continue classes to prepare for the Sacrament of First Eucharist (or First Holy Communion) whcih is scheduled for Sunday April 30, 2023 (Good Shepherd Sunday).  Let us keep them all in our prayers during this special time of grace:   Nipun, Jose, Raquel, Elvis, Ester, Victoria F, Victoria L, Matteo, Lea, and June.

December 2022

The Belonging Celebration was held last Sunday Dec. 4 at the 9am Family Mass to affirm the commitment of the children (and their families) to prepare for the Sacraments of Holy Eucharist and Reconciliation:  Jose, Raquel, Elvis, Ester, Nipun, Victoria F, Victoria L, Matteo, June, and Lea.

Let us keep them in our prayers as they go through their preparation.

Blue Sheets !
More "blue sheets" are being submitted every Sunday, to remind us to listen well to the Presider's homily, and observe closely what is going on at Mass.

Mark your calendar for our annual Christmas Party and Potluck:  Sunday December 18, right after our Sunday Sessions that end at 11am.  If you are attending the 11am Mass, come join us when Mass is over.

October 2022

Last Sunday, Fr. Hao blessed our pets outside Worner Hall right after the 9am Mass.  Lots of dogs and one pet fish!   We also witnessed the blessing of a new statue of St. Francis of Assissi which will eventually be placed somewhere in our parish grounds.

October is the month of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary.  We will spend time understanding the prayers, the structure of the rosary, and discussing the mysteries -- the special events in the life of our Lord Jesus.

September 2022

Welcome back to all the returning families, and a warm welcome to all the new families joining us this year!  We have a large number of middle school and high school students!

This year we will again be using the Gospel Weeklies that enables each group of students to reflect and discuss the Mass readings for that particular Sunday.  "Good News" for the youngest group, "Venture" for upper elementary and "Visions" for middle school and high school students.

Blessing of the Catechists was on September 18, 2022 which was also the First Session for the school year.  Thank you to our Volunteer Catechists this year:  Karen Patel, Agnes Sison, Purita Belmonte, Theresa Ito, and Ann Liebmann.

We welcome all families with K-12 students to join our growing group of Catholic friends.  Together let us joyfully celebrate God's love, develop friendships and grow in our faith and in our personal relationship with our Lord.

Please register now, or call the church office at (408) 725-3939 if you have any questions or concerns.
