CNYQuA officially sponsors four high school tournaments through the year:
A Fall Kickoff tournament on or around the last Saturday of September.
This tournament is an opportunity for experienced teams to immediately get started with their quizbowl season and typically features an NAQT Invitational Series set (or other HS Level 2 set)
A Fall Novice tournament on or around the third Saturday of November.
This tournament is open only to newer players and teams with less experience and typically features an NAQT Introductory Invitational Series set (or other HS Level 1 set)
A Winter Invitational tournament on or around the second Saturday of February.
Another "regular" difficulty tournament open to all high school teams, typically featuring an NAQT Invitational Series set (or other HS Level 2 set)
A Spring Championship tournament on or around the first Saturday of April
An opportunity to crown the CNY Quizbowl Champions, typically featuring a HS level 3 set
For more explanation about quizbowl difficulty levels, see the What is Quizbowl? page.
Some schools/programs in the Central NY region will host additional tournaments through the year, using the same format as CNYQuA tournaments. See the current season page for more of these opportunities
Sponsored and run by International Academic Competitions, History Bee and Bowl tournaments are quizbowl competitions with an emphasis on history. Individual Bee and Team Bowl events usually happen during the same tournament date, and while these events tend to be held at CNYQuA-affiliated schools, the format for both differ from the typical CNYQuA tournament. See the rules documents on this page for more details.
There are many other opportunities for quizbowl, including tournaments featuring more narrowly-defined content, or of different formats.
