CARDIOMETABOLIC AND NEUROMODULATION

RESEARCH LABORATORY

RESEARCH OVERVIEW

Research in the CNR lab focuses on understanding the dynamic interplay between central nervous system, peripheral nervous system, immune system and the cardiovascular system in relation to cardiovascular and metabolic disease development. We work on elucidating the role of signaling molecules including the lipid mediator prostanoids and Poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARPs), family of enzymes that catalyze the transfer of ADP-ribose and help in cellular process such as DNA repair, genomic stability, and programmed cell death.

The broad areas of research interests in the laboratory include:

  • Cardiovascular biology

  • Metabolic syndrome

  • Neuromodulation and sympathetic nerve activity

  • Treatment strategies for hypertension and heart failure

  • Diabetes and diabetic retinopathy

  • Transgenic mouse models of disease
