This section will outline some basic information for various sorts of magic, essentially cliff notes for the magic systems. This section will also contain some generic information about enchantments and some of the basic info about the fundamentals of magic in Gremlocke (if you're looking for more fundamental information, see Alchemy Lore page).
This star was created by the Avestas Order mages to help categorize all the various magics found in their world.
Astral Alignment: encompassed the process of aligning one's soul with the cosmic magic of the universe. This section covers Kindling, Channeling, Fate Casting, and Glimpsing- as well as cosmic magic in its entirety.
Ethereal Consciousness: is the magic contained within every soul of living creatures and covers all the arts of coursing, folding, kindred magic, and many more.
The Fifth Light: refers to the theory of the Seven Scared Lights, wherein the Fifth Light is the light of Magic also known as Embis.
Thaumaturgy: popularly known as Bardic magic, thaumaturgy encompasses the magic of the muse and how it alters the world of the artist.
Internal Power: is an eldritch mysterious power, unlike nearly all other magics as its force is devoid of Embis- instead drawing on some other source of power. Inherited at random, the users of Internal power can alter the world with their minds, reading the thoughts of others and binding the physical forces of like objects
Thaumaturgic Enchantments: Thaumaturgy doesn't end with bardic magic, but has a wide array of applications usually by enhancing the effects of crafted items. Thaumaturges create a spirit, known as a muse when they perform their art and this spirit inhabits both the should of the thaumaturge and the art that they make. It takes years for a thaumaturge to perfect this magic, but they can create very powerful items when they do. A thaumaturge making a cloak can enhance the desired effects of the cloak, like making the person less noticeable while wearing that item.
Folded Items: Folding is the magic of Fairies and allows them to magically fold mechanisms or additional space into opaque items. The more transparent or ethereal an element is, the harder and more valuable it is to fold.
Woven Circuits: Weaving, performed by weavresses, allows the artisan to take the living circuits out of one item and insert them into another. Alchemy has an enormous effect on Weaving as many times- two differing auras cannot be combined into the same item.Â
Alchemical Products: These are usually created via the extraction and infusion of one type of Aura into another, manipulated and altering the aura of the original element. Alchemy typically focuses on creating potions with a wide variety of effects, or
Grammary: the combination of Thaumaturgy, Alchemy, and Weaving to create grams, which are very powerful runic trinkets used to exert great control over Embis. Grammary can be enhanced further to create a mage's spelltome, which is a cumulative volume of all that mage's mastered power condensed into a single book (not all spelltomes are books, they have a wide range of appearances).
Ensorcelled Artifacts: Phantoms have the ability to coerce spirits into inhabiting space they typically wouldn't; Phantoms can also 'invoke' a spirit, making it much more lively as most spirits are dormant. When an item is spiritually altered by a Phantom it is known as an ensorcelled artifact, and its properties become altered according to the process by which the phantom is using.
Asteri Craft: Also known as cosmic magic, dream craft, or wishing spells: the cosmic magic of the Asterians is one of the most potent forces in the world of Gremlocke. It permits the user to conjure up the most impossible spells and create artifacts that break the before-mentioned "rules" of magic in the world.
