The Community Mediation School Corps is a partnership between the Unified Court System and Community Dispute Resolution Centers (CDRC) across the state to provide as variety of conflict resolution services in NY public schools. We recruit AmeriCorps members to become embedded in their local communities to help teach youth positive ways of dealing with conflict.
The objectives of the program are to support the social-emotional learning of students, support student engagement and contectedness to the larger school community, and ultimately reduce the need for out-of-class discipline procedures. Our goal is to foster a positive school climate by teaching students the skills needed to build healthy relationships and to peacefully resolve conflict.
