Dear Chamblee Middle School Band Member,
Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year. I hope you had a great break and are excited to begin a new academic year. The Dekalb County School District and Chamblee Middle School have a strong tradition of excellence in music and you are a part of that great tradition. With hard work, together we will grow our program at Chamblee to be one of the strongest band programs in Georgia!
By choosing to be a member of the Chamblee Middle School Band, you are allowing yourself the opportunity to grow not only as a musician but as a well-rounded individual. In band, you will gain valuable leadership and communication skills, as well as being a part of a close-knit community of other band members. I am confident that you will succeed in your music making experience!
I look forward to a great year of making music.

Mr. Branta
Hi! My name is Ryan Branta and I am the Band Director at Chamblee Middle School. This is my sixth year teaching at Chamblee and my 17th year overall. My previous teaching experiences have been at Cross Keys High School (2016-2021), The American School Foundation of Monterrey, Mexico (2013-2016) and Perry Tipler Middle School in Oshkosh, WI (2010-2013). I received my undergraduate education from Lawrence University where I received a degree in Instrumental Music Education. I had the pleasure of studying euphonium with Marty Erickson and was inspired by amazing music educators such as Andy Mast, Fred Sturm, and David Becker. I received my Master´s degree from SUNY-Buffalo State while living in Mexico.
Mr. Branta lives in Decatur with his wife, Rebecca, and two children, Christopher (9) and Sofia (6). He enjoys reading, listening to music, performing music, running, soccer, gaming, and traveling. If you happen to share any of my passions, please reach out! I love chatting with like-minded individuals.
