About Me

Mr. Wesley Astin

Hi, my name is Wes Astin and I've been in Polk School District for 17 years. For 12 of these years, I taught 8th grade Math at Cedartown Middle School. I was a Mobile Minds Specialist for 3 years. I am currently in my 4th year of teaching Robotics at CMS.

I've been married for 26 years to Tammy Paris Astin. In my free time, I like to work out, play video games, golf and guitar.

Educational Philosophy

I believe that education is a key factor to a thriving community and society. I often find it exciting that I am teaching some of my friend’s children. Not only am I influencing their academic success but I am also helping to shape them as productive citizens. I want them to know they are in a safe and stress-free environment where they can express themselves as an individual.

As a teacher, I feel I owe all my students my attention, my love of teaching and that my main goal is their success in and out of the classroom. My students will also learn that respect is earned and not giving out freely.

I graduated in 1983 from Cedartown High School. In 1987, I graduated from La Grange College with a Computer Science degree, minoring in Mathematics. In 2010, I earned a Master’s degree in Instructional Technology with an Online Teaching Endorsement from Georgia Southern University.
