On June 6th, 2019 the 75th Anniversary of D-Day, Clifford Moseley at the age of 94 was awarded the Legion of Honour by France for fighting for their liberty on their soil during WWII. 

The Legion of Honour is the highest French order of merit for military and civil merits, established in 1802 by Napoleon Bonaparte and retained by all later French governments and régimes.  ( https://www.click2houston.com/news/d-day-ceremony-on-battleship-texas-wwii-veterans-receive-french-legion-of-honor ). 

He was also presented a Certificate of Recognition by The State of Texas House of Representatives Honoring him For Service to his Country on June 6th, 1944.

I was inducted into the Army at an Induction Station in Tyler, Texas August 6th, 1943.  I trained for infantry at Camp Fannin at Tyler, Texas.  I landed in Europe the 28th of March 1944 and joined 3rd Infantry Division near Anzio.  I helped liberate Rome.  I took invasive training and hit the beaches of Southern France on August 15th, 1944.  We were overrun by Germans somewhere in France on September 15th, 1944.  I was captured along with eleven others.  We were marched into Germany where I worked, mostly cleaning up after the bombings.

My mother received a telegram from the War Department listing me as being missing in action.  Then several telephone calls came telling my mother they had heard my voice on German radio saying I was alive and well.  Then came the telegram from War Department that listed me as a Prisoner of War.  I was liberated April 28th, 1945 by Patton's tanks.  I was returned to the U.S.A. on the hospital ship "The Angels Harp" on my 20th birthday, May 29th, 1945.

I was sent back to Camp Fannin, Texas as cadre to train recruits to be sent to Japan.  I was discharged from Camp Fannin Separation Center December 6th, 1945.

Melda Jeffrey and I married January 25th, 1947.  We have 4 children, 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
