Since January 2017, Carlos, is a PhD Candidate in a program entitled MIT Portugal Leaders for Technical Industries - Engineering Design and Advanced Manufacturing at Instituto Superior Técnico (Lisbon), in a partnership with Faculty of Engineering of University of Porto and School of Engineering of the University of Minho. His main research topic is hydrogen.
After finishing his Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering in July 2015, Carlos decided to keep working on Finite Element Modeling, namely Trimming and remapping operations in multi-stage processes, for the remainder of the year. In 2016, he participated in the ColRobot Project in University of Coimbra, the first six months he was responsible for the Computer Vision component and, for the last six months, for the developing of a framework allowing the usage of Inertial Movement Units to detect motion and generate gesture data to instruct a robot remotely.
Besides his formal education, Carlos also pursues knowledge in his free time, which is shown across the years in the different areas and courses that he took.
My long-term objective is to bring hydrogen to the commercial aviation and nautical sectors, eliminating direct pollution in this sector. Currently, I'm focusing on aviation, unmanned aerial vehicles, to prove that the best course of action is to invest in the efficiency of the systems. This leads to a validation of the focus on hydrogen solutions. I am also in the studying innovation and business opportunities in the path to an hydrogen society, [in production, storage and transport and consumption].
