Caddo Magnet Mock Trial teams have won first place at the annual Louisiana State Competition 8 times! Magnet Mock Trial has also placed 19th in the entire nation two years in a row. Needless to say, our teams work hard every year, and we are always glad to see new faces joining us each season!
Mock trial is -- quite literally -- an act or imitation trial.
Students act as attorneys or witnesses (or both!) and simulate a real trial. They compete against other teams as either the Prosecution or the Defense, using cases that they have built on evidence given to them in advance.
Both attorneys and witnesses learn about court proceedings and strengthen their problem-solving and improvisation skills! Attorneys will be taught how to argue in a trial and give speeches. Witnesses enhance their theatrical skills!
All Caddo Magnet Mock Trial members get to work with real attorneys from across the Shreveport-Bossier area. Every single of these volunteers are immensely experienced in the courtroom, and we could not be more grateful for them! This exposure teaches students about the real-world application of law while also exposing them to legal opportunities outside of school.
Every year, our program grows! In the 2021-2022 season, we had 7 teams-- the largest number we have had yet!
You do not have to be a freshman entering Magnet to join, either. We are welcome to sophomores, juniors, and even seniors looking to enter our competition!
Simply attend our meetings during Activity Period, keep note of when tryouts start, and join the Remind! (@magmock23 for the 2023-2024 season)
