Eligibility

Absolutely anyone can enter the CMC Game of Stones - the more the merrier. There are no costs associated with entering, apart for the actual event entry fees (for races) or trail fees (for club rides on trails).

There are a few CMC club member benefits (below) that are only available to club members, but apart from those anyone is eligible to participate in ANY ride/event and be awarded the points and prize(s) associated with that specific event.

CMC Member benefits:

Only CMC members are eligible to win the Game of Stones floating trophies. If the League winner is not a member, the trophy will be presented to the next eligible participant
Partner discounts are only available to members (see "Partners and Sponsors" page)

Handicap system

Each rider’s official finish will be adjusted based on his/her rider’s index to determine the final league results table. The formula mirrors that used by Racetec, whereby the finish time is compared to the winner’s time, and adjusted for course difficulty.

Formula for seeding index = (((finish time / winners time) - 1)/ Beta) * 100

(Beta = difficulty index. The CMC Game of Stones organizers will allocate a Beta value to be used, based on the results of the field on the day)

The reverse of the above formula is applied to determine the adjusted event finish time:

Adjusted time = Finish time / (((index*EventBeta) / 100) +1)

Riders' indexes will be recalculated after each CMC Game of Stones event before the next event. The Organizers also reserves the right to adjust a rider’s index based on his / her strength in club rides. If newly calculated index is lower than current index, a rider's index will be adjusted down to the new value. If newly calculated index is higher than current index, a rider's index will be adjusted up to the new value but with a maximum adjustment of 10% per event.

Short version:

If the above sounds complicated – it’s basically the Racetec seeding concept in reverse – meaning we apply a seeding to your finish time, to arrive at an adjusted finish time, which should be in the same ballpark for all riders. Think “golf handicap”.

Prizes

The main prizes are two beautiful floating trophies for the male and female CMC members who finishes at the top of the League at the end of 2020. The trophies will be handed over at the annual CMC prize-giving function.

Additionally, we aim to have some prizes after each event for the entrant with the most league points on the day. We may vary the type and number of prizes from event to event, based on the type of ride, the type of prizes sponsored and the number of entrants. We will aim to hand over prizes as soon as possible after the event.
