About

 Our Mission:

The Michigan State University Student Chapter of Club Managers Association of America is focused on providing an exceptional and engaging experience for all those involved through the exposure to the professional development, education, and networking created by CMAA. We strive to be positive examples of both Club Managers Association of America and The School of Hospitality Business at Michigan State University.

 Education:

Our CMAA Chapter goes above and beyond as far as educating our members. We want each of our members to have many opportunities to learn about the club industry and what it has to offer them. All of our education sessions had purpose and strong attendance, assuring our members had taken full advantage of the opportunities we offered. Education within our chapter includes the following: National Education Student Conference in Chicago, World Conference in Nashville, educational manager panels, extensive club tours and involvement in Business Management Institute III classes which are held at the Kellogg Center of Michigan State University. 

Membership Growth:

The Michigan State University Student Chapter is very proud of the vast strides we have taken to nurture and grow an actively involved membership base. The chapter is run on a basic point system, which allows us to monitor student involvement. This point system has not only become an excellent bench marking tool, but also is a source of competition and excitement in concerns to the involvement and retention of our members. We have seen a surge of participation by students in part due to the accurate record keeping we have kept of membership participation. Our recruitment efforts are primarily based on word-of-mouth by current students supplemented by outreach to non-members through school-sponsored events and social networking. The key message we want to relay to potential members is that we are a warm, welcoming group focused on the common goal of exploring the private club industry. Our efforts to retain our current members are focused on continually providing our members with a diverse array of engaging opportunities for their active participation.
