心 * ( Kokoro) : Mental strength, mental stability  

技（Waza）: Technical knowledge and skills  

体（Karada）: Physical health  

*note from the translator/wife: In Japanese the word for “mind” and “heart” are the same. So  while this website talks about ‘strength of mind’ it also refers to ‘lightness of one’s heart.’ Your  heart and mind are interwoven as one in the Japanese mindset  

In Japanese Bushido, there is a traditional teaching called "Shin Gi Tai" or "mind, technique,  body", that is short for "honing the mind, training the technique, and focusing the body’s Qi".  

Simply put, hone your mind, train your skills, strengthen your body.  

Mental focus, technical ability, physical ability are each not enough on their own. You only  succeed when these three parts are balanced with one another.
