(1)Dancing with the Gods: The Huang-Jiang Dance
Our school is located next to the Zhongliao Anxi Chenghuang Temple. In 2003, our school invited Teacher Mei-li Chen from the Longmen Dance Troupe to incorporate elements of the "Pa-Chiang Chiang(The Eight Generals)” from Cheng huang beliefs into a unique performance. This fusion of music, visual arts, and dance resulted in the creation of the one-of-a-kind "Huang jiang Dance," which has been invited to perform at prestigious venues such as the Presidential Office Holiday Square, the Southern Branch of the National Palace Museum, and the Fo Guang Shan Buddha Museum, helping to preserve and promote our local culture.
Our school collaborates with the Lucao Township Farmers' Association and local young farmers to develop a food and farming education curriculum centered around the principles of "Food First, Agriculture as the Foundation." In 2024, we partnered with the Agricultural Technology Department of National Formosa University, the Tainan International Lions Club, and Teacher Geng-he Zhang from Guobeng Academy to create an intelligent agriculture program. We constructed a greenhouse on the west side of the back building and installed an automatic drip irrigation system to facilitate elevated cultivation in our food and farming courses. This initiative integrates SDGs topics, focusing on food preservation, local production and consumption, and the transmission and innovation of culinary culture.
Chong Liao preserves rich local elements such as the "Huang-Jiang Dance" and “Food and Farming Education”, providing the school with resources to connect with the international community. Through the iEARN platform, we facilitate card exchanges with schools in Japan, Russia, and Canada, linking our activities to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We plan thematic courses to teach students the importance of caring for the Earth and fulfilling their responsibilities as global citizens.
