WELCOME25 is a Cloudways promo code that gives a 25% discount for the first month. It is a one-cycle reduction, not an ongoing rate change: standard pricing applies from the second invoice onwards. Cloudways bills monthly based on the servers and add-ons running in the account, so the discount is calculated against that first monthly cycle rather than a fixed sum stated in advance.
There are two places. The first is the promo or referral field on the signup form, if that field appears for you. The second is the promotional codes field inside the account or billing settings of the platform dashboard. If you do not see the field during signup, that is not a problem — open the dashboard settings after creating the account and paste it there instead.
A typical run-through looks like this:
Create an account on the Cloudways website with an email address and basic details.
Enter WELCOME25 in the promo or referral field if the signup form shows one.
Otherwise, go to the dashboard account or billing settings and paste WELCOME25 into the promotional codes field.
Complete phone or card verification if prompted, since servers cannot be launched until that is done.
Launch a server by choosing the application, cloud provider, server size and data centre.
Check the billing section before the cycle closes to confirm the 25% reduction has appeared.
The two common causes are formatting and timing. Codes are usually treated as case-sensitive, so the capitalisation matters, and a trailing space picked up from a copy-and-paste can cause the entry to fail. Retype it manually if the field rejects it.
Timing is the other issue. The code must be applied before the first billing cycle completes. Codes added after an invoice has been generated generally cannot be applied retroactively, so there is no reliable route back once the bill exists.
Cloudways typically offers a short free trial that allows you to deploy a server before any card charge. If you go that route, the promo code needs to already be on the account when the trial converts to paid. Adding it after conversion risks running into the same retroactive limitation described above, so apply it while you are still in the trial period.
Verification requests at signup are anti-abuse screening, not a charge. You may be asked for phone or card verification, and servers cannot be launched until it is completed. This is a normal part of the process rather than a sign that the discount has failed or that billing has started early.
Cloudways is a managed cloud hosting platform rather than a traditional shared host. You choose an underlying cloud provider — DigitalOcean, Vultr, Linode, AWS or Google Cloud — along with a server size and region, and Cloudways manages the stack on top: web server configuration, PHP versions, caching layers, SSL certificates, backups and security patching.
There are two broad products. Cloudways Flexible leaves you in control of configuration and lets you choose the cloud backend. Cloudways Autonomous is a fully managed option built around on-demand scaling. Supported applications include WordPress, WooCommerce, Magento, Laravel and plain PHP stacks, and Cloudways provides both a WordPress migration plugin and a migration service.
Exact server plan prices are not stated here; check the Cloudways pricing page before committing, since the size of your 25% saving depends entirely on the plan you pick.
Several charges sit on top of the base server price and should be factored in before you judge the first invoice. Bandwidth and storage overages are billed separately from the base server price on most plans, though which resources are metered is not specified here and is worth checking on site. Add-ons billed on top of the server include Cloudflare Enterprise integration, object storage and email. Backups are usually a small per-server monthly charge.
Two other practical points: no root access to servers is provided, and email hosting is not included, although add-ons are available for it.
The only confirmation that matters is the billing section of the dashboard. Look there before the first cycle closes and verify that the 25% reduction is showing. If it is not, that is the window in which to fix the entry, because once the invoice is generated the code generally cannot be applied backwards.
