A Fun, Affordable, and Adorable Fall Decoration!
Get ready to add some festive fall flair to your home with this DIY Thanksgiving Turkey Wreath! This easy, budget-friendly craft is the perfect way to celebrate the cozy colors of autumn while bringing a touch of whimsy to your Thanksgiving décor. Using simple supplies like wooden clothespins, acrylic paint, and a wire wreath form, you’ll create a cheerful turkey that’s sure to make your guests smile. Whether you’re decorating for Thanksgiving dinner, fall gatherings, or even a classroom project, this cute wreath is a family-friendly way to get creative and grateful this season.
Paint the Clothespins:
Paint a total of 100 wooden clothespins using acrylic paint: 20 red, 20 yellow, 20 orange, 20 light brown, and 20 dark brown. Let them dry completely before moving on.
Start the Turkey Body:
Begin clipping your light and dark brown clothespins onto the wire wreath form, alternating the shades to give it a textured, feathered look. Clip them on two different wires to create a fun 3D effect for the turkey’s body.
Add the Feathers:
Next, create the turkey’s colorful feathers by alternating two orange, two red, and two yellow clothespins at a time. This time, clip them on only one wire so they fan out behind the brown body. Repeat this pattern until the rest of the wreath form is filled.
Create the Turkey Head:
Trace and cut a circle from cardboard. Cover it with brown felt, then cut out a small triangle for the beak and a fun red wattle (or “gobble”). Hot glue these pieces onto the head and add two googly eyes for a touch of personality.
Attach the Feathers and Head:
Glue a few craft feathers to the top of the turkey’s head for extra flair. Then glue the finished head to the top center of your wreath so it looks like the brown body sits below and the colorful “feathers” fan out behind it.
Let it Dry and Hang:
Allow your wreath to dry completely before hanging it on your front door, wall, or mantle.
Personalize It: Add a cute wooden sign that says “Gobble ‘Til You Wobble” or “Happy Thanksgiving!” for extra charm.
Kid-Friendly Option: Use washable paint or markers so little ones can help decorate safely.
Display It Anywhere: Hang your turkey wreath on your front door, above the fireplace, or even in your dining room as a Thanksgiving centerpiece.
Budget Tip: Most of these supplies can be found at your local Dollar Tree or craft store, making this a super affordable DIY project!
This DIY Thanksgiving Turkey Wreath is a festive, colorful, and budget-friendly way to celebrate the season of gratitude! With just a few simple supplies and a splash of creativity, you’ll have a handmade decoration that’s perfect for Fall, or Thanksgiving.
